Julie Henszey is a leader in environmental activism and organizing. She ran for the Wisconsin State Senate before moving to Ventura in 2019, motivated by the inequities baked into our institutions and policies. She now champions local efforts to bring more diverse voices to the political table to resolve these inequities. As a teenager, she spent a couple of summers hoeing the weeds out of her parent’s cornfields by hand and would overheat at times, so can directly appreciate the resilience of fieldworkers.
Bring her a New York Times crossword puzzle and she’ll bake you an apple crisp in gratitude.
