Candelaria Franco, known by her loved ones as “Candy,” is the proud daughter of Mexican parents and is a first generation immigrant to the United States. As a new immigrant, Candy worked as a farmworker in Ventura County, harvesting celery, romaine lettuce, and cilantro. She resides with her husband in Oxnard and is the mother of three beautiful children. She is also the grandmother of one grandbaby, whom she loves sharing time with. Candy is always looking for new opportunities to help and improve her community. Candy worked for eleven years for El Rio School District and she currently works for the Ventura County Office of Education. On the side, she is also an entrepreneur who aims to provide her family a better education and quality of life.
She likes to be informed of the needs of her community and believes it is always important to do what is right. She is a former Board Director and Whistleblower of Clinicas del Camino Real, where she advocated for the needs of farmworkers and families in need. She enjoys interacting with people and always provides support within her capacity.
