Dr. Martita Martinez-Bravo is the first Executive Director of Friends of Fieldworkers, Inc and she has been an active volunteer and organizer for the organization since 2017. She resides with her three children and husband in Camarillo. The eldest of nine children from a Ventura County farm-working family, Martita was the first in her family to earn a college degree and later achieved both a Masters and Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. She is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine.
She has dedicated her educational and personal experiences to create transformational community benefits for the community. She is a public servant who in 2022 made history as the first elected Latina and woman of color Councilmember in the city of Camarillo. She finds fulfillment by building relationships and helping others, such as by serving on nonprofit boards like Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and kidSTREAM Children’s Museum.
Additionally, she is a social justice and environmental activist, earning community awards for her work. Martita is an active parishioner at Padre Serra Parish, as both a ministry leader and catechist.
