Michaela Perez was born and raised in Oxnard and has a Masters of Public Health and a Bachelor's in Psychology from San Francisco State University. Her grandparents were farm workers which led her to pursue a career in social impact to create opportunities for communities to thrive. 

Michaela has a 10-year track record in policy advocacy and community organizing.  She previously aided elected officials and national organizations in building strategic partnerships to implement statewide public policy initiatives focused on social equity and poverty alleviation. 

Michaela has also worked alongside grassroots organizations to ensure historically underrepresented populations have input on the policy development and decision-making process. 

Michaela's work is grounded in establishing long-term solutions and centering the community’s needs at all levels of the policy and program development process.
