Dr. Mónica Robles is the proud daughter of immigrant farmworkers. She was born and raised in Oxnard and has dedicated her life’s work to supporting and uplifting her community’s most at-need youth.
Dr. Robles started her career in a clerical position in the Oxnard Union High School District. In this role, her Spanish translation services were instrumental in assisting families navigate the U.S schooling system.
In 2018, she transitioned to the role of Student Wellness Specialist at Frontier High School, the district’s continuation high school. Frontier High School predominantly serves Latino students who have higher academic, social, emotional and/or behavioral needs. Dr. Robles prides herself in taking a holistic approach in supporting her students. Her leadership was instrumental in the development and opening of the site’s wellness center in 2022. In addition to providing direct mental health counseling to students, she also worked to build partnerships with community- based organizations to bring their services onto campus, thus helping eliminate barriers to access for students and their families. Today, this award-winning wellness center continues to serve as a hub of resources for the entire Frontier High School community.
A counselor at heart, Dr. Robles has also served as an Adjunct Instructor in California Lutheran University Graduate School of Education counseling program, the same program she went through. In this role, she taught culturally relevant curriculum to up-and-coming school counselors.
Currently, Dr. Robles proudly serves as an Assistant Principal. She works daily to embed restorative versus punitive discipline practices with a mission of eliminating the school-to-prison pipeline. Dr. Robles is thrilled to join Friends of Fieldworkers in their shared mission of supporting, celebrating and advocating for our local farmworker community.
