Emergency Funds

The feet in this photo are those of a two-month old baby in Ventura County who has eplepsy.

Overview

Unexpected events can quickly create an immediate financial hardship for the family of a fieldworker. We help families through these challenging circumstances by providing immediate financial support.

Details

The Emergency Fund enables immediate financial relief to families affected by a crisis or emergency. These emergencies come in a variety of forms, with past circumstances including:

  • the death of a loved one within their immediate family
  • loss of a job
  • significant medical need or emergency
  • home displacements
  • loss of belongings and/or property from a natural disaster
  • loss of belongings and/or property from home fires
  • Other significant accidents or emergency situations

Providing a helping hand with this financial support is truly appreciated by our families in need.

Babies with critical medical conditions

A significant number of families have been referred to us from neonatal ICU's due to medical issues with newborn babies. We connect with families personally, learn their specific needs, connect them to other services when possible, and visit them in their homes to deliver funds.

Eligible recipients

Individuals qualify when they meet both criteria below.

  • Are a farmworker or a member of a farmworker family
  • Currently reside with their farmworker family

Recipients provide proof of employment as agricultural workers prior to disbursement of funds.
